lyrics

Buffalo Skinned By All The Kings Men

Wide eyed and naïve
A young father and afraid
Didn’t have much education
But I needed to get paid
They marched into my high school
Smooth talking and clean shaved
Said your problems will all mend
When you join in with all the King’s men

Well I saw it on TV
The towers they did fall
I saw that bloody baby
And the terror of it all
I couldn’t help but wonder
How can I help make this all end
Maybe I should give in
You know, go join in with
All the Kings men

While I was in that boot camp
I learned a good trade
Mom said I was just a baby
Barely old enough to shave
But they whipped me into shape
Taught me how to behave
My problems seemed to mend
When I joined in
With all the King’s men

So we saddled up our horses
And galloped to that foreign land
They all saw us coming
But still didn’t have a chance
Their house of cards did crumble
By our mighty wind
They were shocked by the awe
Of all the King’s men

Okay all you evil doers
We could not find your leader
What can we really say?
He’s a real hide and seeker
So we galloped to the West
To find his best friend
Because the King has called us all
And we’re all the King’s men

So we fired our cannons
Until the barrels melted down
We killed women and children
Turned that country upside down
They said he’d made some big bombs
But not one could be found
And we did find that so called best friend
Living in a hole in the ground

Now they say it should be over
But us King’s men still stick around
Seems some locals don’t like to live with
The likes of us around
And the last thing I remember
Is that mighty awful sound
As I let my horse take a dump
In the center of another people’s town

Now I lay here in Bethesda
Only half a man
I hear my mother crying
As she holds my only hand
I lost a leg and both my eyes
In that awful blow
And my mind is stuck here seeing
The last site I’ll ever know

Now my mom still calls me baby
And my Dad just calls me son
You can call me anything you want
Except the forgotten one
All this blood and dyin’
Has got my spirit broken
And all the King’s horses and men
Will never put that back together again
