about

This song is the result of a recent Song Colony workshop. We challenge each other at the end of each workshop with what we call a "quick and dirty" word. The word is a way to jump off and write something. Anything.
The resulting lyrics don't necessarily have to have anything to do with the word itself. The word this month was "confess". I started to think about a criminal. I always loved that line of Bruce Springteen's Atlantic City. There's a rumble on the promenade..... I merged it with what I imagined to be the dance floor where Daniel and Rocky Raccoon (Beatles) got into it and the rest kinda fell out, fueled by this goddamn pandemic.

I'm adding songs weekly during the Pandemic.

If you would like to support my music project while I'm not able to tour, please consider dropping me a tip in my tip jar.
Thank you so much for supporting what I love to do!
Sincerely,
Todd

Might Be The End (May 2 Song Colony – word “Confess”) T.Burge

I as a young boy
Grandad said to me

Give it all you have boy

And you’ll have all you need

But I needed more

Than the ol’ man

Could ever conceive

Don’t give up
Be all in

Might be the end of me

There’s a rumble on the dance floor
Some bruiser tapped my shoulder

And I with my nervous trigger

Took off the bruiser’s head

I’d die for her

But I thought

Better he than me

Don’t give up
Be all in

Might be the end of me

I as a young man

Well, actually a teen

Put the pedal to the floor
Burned my tires bald and clean, then screamed

Listen to me

Why can’t they
Let me be free

Be all in
Don't give up

Might be the end of me

Now like an ape I pound my chest

I grab and shake all hands

Then I chew my nails
As I’m nervous (bout) where you’ve been

Where’ve you been?
And how many hands
Did your hand receive?

Don’t give up
Be all in

Might be the end of me
